Over the course of a year, as the historic Moore Building underwent extensive renovations, a vision took shape through conversations with over 400 distinguished Miami collectors. The Moore 100 is a culmination of their willingness to share masterworks from their private collections. This extraordinary assemblage of contemporary art is designed to be a "living collection" with ongoing curation, annual shows, events and celebration centered around the arts community in at the Moore. Their willingness to share masterworks from their private collections culminated in an extraordinary assemblage of contemporary art.
Anchoring the space is Elastika, Zaha Hadid's sculptural installation whose sweeping organic lines introduce a fluid dynamism into the building's classical structure. This architectural dialogue creates an ideal setting for works that engage in conversation with both space and viewer.
What began as individual conversations has evolved into an exhibition that reveals the profound connections between art, space and community. From contemplative portraits to bold abstractions, each work contributes to a larger narrative about Miami’s evolving cultural landscape.
Each of the four floors offers its own unique perspective. The first level presents a vibrant selection of significant contemporary works. On the second floor, historic black-and-white photographs evoke the timeless aesthetic of members’ clubs, while the atrium features figurative works by contemporary artists that engage with the soaring architectural space. The workspace level creates an environment where art and daily activity converge.
This book chronicles a singular moment when the passionate pursuit of collecting transcends traditional boundaries between public and private spheres, becoming a celebration of shared cultural heritage, artistic vision and collective experience.
Our greatest thanks goes to the lenders and collectors who have made this collection possible. Their generosity and vision are essential to the Moore’s art program and future as a contributor to Miami’s art community.
